Outlander Tour From Inverness
Visit the places Diana Gabaldon brought to the imagination of every outlander fan with MacLeod’s Highland tours. My Outlander tour is very popular as you can imagine with the outlaner fans across the globe. I will take you to the historical streets of Inverness the capital of the Highlands, where Claire and Frank visit on their second honeymoon. We will visit the places that were part of the real Jacobite uprising in and around Inverness.
Leaving Inverness we make our way to the Battlefield at Culloden that changed the way of the Highlander and the way of Highland life for ever. Pay homage to the brave clansmen of the Battle Of Culloden. At Culloden Moor we can relive Jacobite history in the excellent visitor center (this is a five star attraction) and a must see. Walk in the footsteps of a Highland Clansman or Government Solider.
Arriving at the enchanting Clava Cairns which date back to around 2000BC we can only wonder at their impressive construction and tranquil setting. The Clava Cairns are a collective of some 45 Cairns that are found in the North to North East of Scotland all coming under the name of Clava Carins. (Craigh na Dun)
Traveling Westward to the home of the Clan MacKenzie at Leod Castle, where Claire finds herself guest of Colum MacKenzie. Castle Leod originally the seat of the Clan MacLeod of Lewis. The last Clan Chief MacLeod of Lewis Married the daughter of MacKenzie and ownership of Castle Leod became the Clan Seat of MacKenzie in 1485. Unfortunately the Castle is only open certain times of the year.
As we cross country we arrive in the picturesque village of Beauly home to the Clan Fraser. Visit the Priory ruins and the lush green country side with its crofts dotted among its rolling hills and meandering river. The Priory dates back to the 13th Century and sits perfectly at the edge of the village square.
Taking in the elevated views of Lovat Estate we make our way to the family church and burial ground of the Clan Fraser, stopping at the Wardlaw Mausoleum burial place of clan chiefs of Fraser. Our final journey brings us round the Firth of Beauly back to the City of Inverness.
