The Isle of Skye day tour from Inverness with MacLeod’s Highland Tours showcases the west coast of Scotland, which is without doubt the most dramatic scenery you will experience on your holiday. We leave the Highland Capital Inverness at 8.30 sharp as we have a full day ahead. We travel the west road alongside Loch Ness stopping briefly at the lochside and Urquhart Castle for a photo opportunity.

After a brief stop we continue west to the stunning rugged countryside that has amazed and enchanted visitors for thousands of years. We will stop along the way at the places you want to, to capture the perfect picture. My tour takes you to the last turntable ferry in Scotland leaving the shores of Glenelg and crossing to the Isle Of Skye.

Enjoy the peaceful setting and stunning colours as you feel you are the only person there meandering through the countryside on the narrow single track road that takes you to the village of Broadford.

We travel through the village on our way to the Fishing village of Portree. Portree is the largest village on The Isle Of Skye. A busy village in the north of the island with a mix of locals and visitors enjoying the variety of shops, restaurants and pubs. A pleasant stop for lunch and a look around the village and harbour.

Leaving the Capital of  the Island we make our way further north around the coast enjoying the panoramic views. Next stop The Old Man of Storr and Kilted Falls with their impressive rock formations. The cascading waters at Kilt rock are spectacular and the mysterious Old Man of Storr. A great opportunity for great pictures and embracing scenery.

On our way back through The Isle of Skye relax and enjoy your journey to the Impressive Skye Bridge at Kyleakin. The Skye bridge was opened on the 16/10/1995 connecting The Isle of Sky to the mainland. Traveling on takes us to the most photographed Castle Eilean Donan. The name Eilean Donan or the island of Donan is believed to be named after the 6th century Irish Bishop Doan who visited Scotland around 580 AD. It is little wonder so many films have been shot here. To name a few, Bonnie Prince Charlie starring David Niven (1948) Highlander (1986) Loch Ness (1996) James Bond – The World is Not Enough (1999).
